چکیده
Background From January, 2010 to September, 2011, 224 patients who underwent pulmonary vein isolation and debulking of the septal and posterior walls of the left atrium as part of RFA procedure for atrial fibrillation were imaged on a 3 Tesla MR scanner (Verio, Siemens Healthcare). Time interval between the conclusion of ablation procedure and placing the patient in the scanner was typically less than one hour. The MR protocol included double inversion recovery T2-weighted TSE, contrast enhanced MR angiography (Multihance, 0.1 mmol/kg) and 3D late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) scans.

Constrictive pericarditis after catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation.
A 70-year-old man with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation was referred for pulmonary vein isolation. Past medical history included ischemic heart disease and a right hemicolectomy for Duke’s C carcinoma 10 years previously. Presenting ECG showed sinus rhythm with a normal axis and evidence of left atrial enlargement (Figure 1). Preoperative echocardiography demonstrated normal left ventricular stru...
متن کاملIncidence of pulmonary vein stenosis 2 years after radiofrequency catheter ablation of refractory atrial fibrillation.
AIMS Pulmonary vein ablation offers the potential to cure patients with atrial fibrillation. In this study, we investigated the incidence of pulmonary vein stenosis after radiofrequency catheter ablation of refractory atrial fibrillation by systematic long-term follow-up. METHODS AND RESULTS Forty-seven patients with refractory and highly symptomatic atrial fibrillation underwent radiofrequen...
متن کاملPulmonary vein stenosis detection by early cardiac magnetic resonance imaging post-atrial fibrillation ablation
Background Pulmonary vein stenosis (PVS) is a rare complication of atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation with a rate of significant stenosis, defined as >50%, of 1.3% in a recent multicenter study. As significant morbidity is associated with PVS, detection and surveillance with non-invasive imaging is routine. In this study, we hypothesized that prediction of PVS can be determined with early MRI to...
متن کاملAsymptomatic Pulmonary Vein Stenosis: Hemodynamic Adaptation and Successful Ablation
Pulmonary vein stenosis is a well-established possible complication following an atrial fibrillation ablation of pulmonary veins. Symptoms of pulmonary vein stenosis range from asymptomatic to severe exertional dyspnea. The number of asymptomatic patients with pulmonary vein stenosis is greater than originally estimated; moreover, only about 22% of severe pulmonary vein stenosis requires interv...
متن کاملManagement Of Pulmonary Vein Stenosis Following Catheter Ablation Of Atrial Fibrillation.
There is limited literature available regarding PV (pulmonary vein) stenosis management. Starting from its incidence, subsequent follow up using imaging technologies to monitor the success and the way of managing different groups pose varied opinions. However, with newer technological advancements and better understanding of mechanism of the atrial fibrillation ablation, the incidence of PV ste...
